FAQs

How can I prepare for my first consultation?

I will send you a health assessment form and 3 day food and lifestyle diary to complete. These must be completed 3 days before you first consultation.

Please share your recent blood test results (from the last 3 months) with me via my portal.

It is also important for me to be aware all medications and supplements that you are taking. Please have these handy during your visit so that I can evaluate them accurately and thoroughly.

Where do you see clients?

I see clients by video.

Fitting in self care can be a challenge and telemedicine is a modern day solution that makes getting good care more convenient. No waiting at the clinic and less time away from work and family. It is particularly useful in the current pandemic situation.

My practice is built to facilitate secure virtual consultations, and connecting with clients remotely is easy. There’s no need for fancy software on your end, as long as you’re comfortable with using the internet. Functional medicine lab kits and supplements can be shipped directly to your house. I am hoping to see clients in again clinic as soon as possible.

I expect all my clients to start feeling better within the first 4 weeks. Depending on the severity and how long symptoms have persisted, I usually sign clients off within 3-6 months.

What are your fees?

Please see details above. Fees do not include lab tests and interpretations of advanced lab tests, or supplements. Fees must be paid at least 3 days prior to the first appointment. Payment plans are available.

Do you have a payment plan?

Yes payment plans are available, and I adjust each payment plan to the needs of each client. Please book a discovery call and we can discuss what is right for you.

Which lab tests do you order?

I test, I don't guess, so I require at least standard blood tests via a trusted online lab.

I also order specialised functional laboratory testing through Invivo, Doctor’s Data, Great Plains, Genova, DUTCH, CYREX, Nutrition Genome and others.

This includes but is not limited to comprehensive stool testing, urine organic acids, nutrient levels, food sensitivity, complete hormones, cortisol (adrenal), heavy metals, genetics, mycotoxins and environmental chemicals.

How much do lab tests cost?

Lab costs will be discussed with you during your visit, as they will require an investment on your part. Most clients spend an average of £126 – £450 in advanced lab testing.

What's your cancellation policy?

Please let me know 3 days in advance if you are unable to see me. When you schedule an appointment, time is reserved especially for you and no one else, and cancellations are significant interruptions to my clinic. Thus, a minimum of 3 days notice is required for cancellations of new client visits and 2 days notice for existing clients.

There is a £50 visit charge for “no-shows” or late cancellations. Please let me know as soon as possible if you need to reschedule your appointment.

Why don't you work with committed vegans or vegetarians?

I don't believe that a vegetarian or vegan diet is optimal for health. As a species we have evolved to eat animal protein and fat. Through clinical experience I have found that women do best regularly eating meat, fish and eggs, which supply crucial nutrients that cannot be provided from plants. It is very difficult to optimise and sustain health with a vegetarian or vegan approach.

I am committed to resolving health issues quickly, efficiently and permanently, and this not possible to achieve with an approach that is lacking in essential nutrients.

I am happy to work with women who will eat seafood and eggs.

Can I ask a different question?

The medical system consistently deprioritises and overlooks our health

Women face extreme pain, heavy bleeding, and poor mental health, as NHS waiting lists reach record numbers

Are you one of the hundreds of thousands of women with a gynaecological condition being forced to tolerate extreme pain and debilitating symptoms because of unacceptable NHS waiting lists for diagnosis and treatment? Consultants at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists reported in 2022:

“The reason gynaecology waiting lists have seen the biggest growth is because time and again we see women’s health consistently deprioritised and overlooked. At its core it is gender bias and it’s reflective of society as a whole. Women are being let down and change is urgently needed.

The Royal College asked 830 women on waiting lists about the impact on their lives. Eight out of ten women said their mental health had suffered, and 77% said their condition was stopping them being able to work or socialise as normal.

Many conditions are progressive. If left untreated, they can potentially need complex or invasive surgery.

Conditions like endometriosis and fibroids can affect fertility. Some women are waiting for surgery for these conditions, before they can start fertility treatment. But there is an age limit for IVF on the NHS, and for some women it is too late.

“As a consultant gynaecologist, I personally feel helpless speaking to women about the impact these waits are having on both their physical and mental health, and not being able to do anything to speed up their access to care."

It is time to change how our health is managed

Prior to your initial visit I will review your completed intake forms

  • Health assessment
  • 3 day food and lifestyle diary
  • 2 office documents to sign

These will be made available to you via my online portal. You will need to complete them at least 3 days prior to your visit so that I have time to review them and make a detailed analysis and draft a protocol.

At your consultation we will go through your health history, working together through my analysis of the underlying causes of your symptoms, and we will agree your initial protocol.

Ordering of tests: I require the results of standard blood tests to guide health plans. If you don’t have test results from the 3 last months then inexpensive tests can be ordered via a trusted private lab online.

Some women require additional tests to assess levels of hormones/metabolites including oestrogen, progesterone, testosterone, FSH, LH, AMH, prolactin, thyroid antibodies, cortisol, melatonin, gut microbiome and immune function. These will be ordered for you following your approval.

Receive your Health Optimisation Plan: I will get to work finalising your personalised plan, tailored specifically to you, with detailed guidance for moving forward with your health, based on the data and discussions we have had.

Your plan will include nutrition, supplementation, lifestyle recommendations. You will have the step-by-step directions to start making progress right away.

The 7 Day Intensive Detox: The initial Health Optimisation Plan most often starts with the 7 Day Intensive Detox to rapidly decrease pain and inflammation, balance blood sugar, eliminate sugar cravings and give your liver and gut a break.

The detox spans the first week of your protocol and includes: Implementation Guide, Recipe Guide, Daily Journal, Comprehensive Tracking Tools and a Toxicity Questionnaire to be done before you start and after you finish.

Follow-ups are arranged every 4 weeks and I may send you assessment forms to be completed prior to your appointment to track your progress.

At your consultation we will review your progress and make adjustments to your plan as necessary.

Expect an actionable, personalised health plan following each follow-up – including key points from our discussion, with updated supplement recommendations, nutrition guidelines and appropriate referrals, to ensure you are achieving your goals and targets.

Brief check-ins via my portal are included as part of your follow-up fee, to ensure you are fully supported throughout.
